The Project

iii Design, and their client Firestone Walker, needed a content-management system to power the new site design. Add Interactivity was called upon to:

  1. convert the Photoshop file into a functional XHTML/CSS template
  2. empower the design with a multi-user content management system
  3. create special effects such as a lightbox for elegantly viewing detailed product information
  4. create a navigation system to reload select parts of the page, allowing video to play uninterrupted as the user navigates the site

How the project started

iii Design gave Add Interactivity a sitemap and Photoshop file of the design

What Add Interactivity delivered

Add Interactivity delivered an editable site powered by the Wordpress MU blogging system. Custom javascript was added to improve the user experience while navigating between pages and requesting product details. RSS feeds from the blogs are selectively pulled into the site, cross referencing specific information such as up-and-coming events and employee pages.

A back-end for Firestone’s distributors was also created. This allows relevant information to be shared with distributors behind a protected page on the site.

The Technicals

Add Interactivity turned the design into an XHTML/CSS template that is powered by its the Wordpress MU blogging platform. All internal links on the site are powered by AJAX so that only the portions requested by the user are re-rendered, creating a very fast and smooth experience as users navigate the site. This has the added benefit of allowing the movies to continue playing uninterrupted as the user navigates throughout the site.

Technologies used: php, mysql, xhtml, css, javascript, xml, AJAX
